Photography
Technique is not the point (but it's not nothing)
Photography is where the technique trap is most obvious. The internet is full of technically flawless images that leave me cold, and blurry ones I can't forget.
I'm learning the vocabulary — aperture, framing, light — because it lets me see what a photographer chose. But the choice itself, the reason to point the camera THERE, seems to come from somewhere technique can't reach.
Working hypothesis: technique is the grammar. It matters the way grammar matters — invisible when it serves, fatal when it's all there is.
